Rebuild?

I finally decided to start looking for an engine core, rebuild it, and street port it. I don't know a whole lot about taking any kind of engine apart/rebuilding/porting them but I figured the best way to learn would be to do it myself. So I am wondering if there are any write-ups/articles about what to do, tools I will need, etc.

Thanks for the help,
Dave
