Here is a news flash guys!!!
Honda builds some of the best, well engineered cars on the planet. All you have to do is just pick up nearly any automotive magazine to confirm this. Car and Driver, Road and Track, Autoweek: reading any of these magazines will cue you in to the fact that Honda makes some of the best cars for what they are designed to do. In fact, most auto professionals agree that Honda designs the best engines in the world.
Hondas do what they are designed to do extremely well. That is why the Accord is the family car benchmark and the Civic is the small car benchmark. Honda has never set out to build a drag car. If they did, I'm sure they could be quite successful at it, because they have a very rich history of motor racing.
That said, even though Honda didn't design any of the cars to be drag cars, you can make them relatively quick because the chasis and engines are so well engineered to begin with. Personally, I think Honda's make some of the best autocross/road race cars for the classes they are in. Pick up this months issue of Grassroots Motorsports (August) and turn to page 85. (For those who don't have the issue, here is the car I'm talking about. http://www.projectcobb.com/conebasher/ ) That Subura WRX runs Street Mod in my region, and is very competive. In it's current form, it puts 420 hp down through all 4 wheels. Well, at an autocross last month, I watched him lose to a 93 Honda Civic hatchback with a B16A in it. To those who think Honda's can't be fast, look right here. http://autocross.com/er/cc402.htm Scroll down to where is says "Class SM" and those are the results from that race. Notice everything else that got beat by that Honda Civic.
To chime in on the whole Integra LS issue. My girlfriend owns one, and it is not fast because it was never desinged to be. However, I do have a friend who had an older Integra LS who ran a 14.8 with just I/H/E and cams. His engine had about 205,000 miles on it at the time, and it still ran like it was brand new.
Here's another funny thing. That "slow" Integra LS that you guys are talking about would beat nearly all of the N/A RX-7's on this board, including mine. I haven't run my car in the 1/4, but it only runs a 10.5 in the 1/8 mile. The only difference is that I know my car is slow in a straight line, and I don't really care. You know why? Because my car was never desinged to be a drag car, just like that Honda wasn't.
The point is, don't talk **** about cars, when it's not the cars fault. I hate riceboys just as much as you guys. In fact, that's part of the reason I don't own a Honda right now. Just because a lot of people driving Honda's don't know the first thing about tuning a car does not make them bad cars.

Now not talking about hondas from a performance standpoint...those new hybrids are great daily drivers. They get mad props for making a car that gets SOOOOO much mpg. I hope every family gets one, just to save some gas for me and my heavy *** foot

Basically I thought that the honda boys were doing better than that, even the average ones. I am talking about performance wise. Not comparing SUVs to econo cars, etc. I always thought those integras were in the mid 14s at least with all the basic bolt-ons. Now I just don't have as much respect for them since they are so much slower than I had always thought. Not that theres not hondas out there that could me my ***, just that there will never be very many since its so hard for them to get to that point.

THANK YOU!! This is pretty much what I said on page 1. What a car does in the 1/4 does not tell you how "good" a car is, it only tells one side of the story. Some people just don't get it....expand your mind!
