rear window defroster

My rear window defroster doesn't work.
All my fuses are fine, and when i press the button the light comes on... but it does nothing... 10-15 mins of driving and I still have no visibility out of the rear.
It did have a rear window tint on it at one time, before i had the car.

did you check to see if the wires are connected to the window?
sometimes those break off

yeah both sides they are connected.
Rear window defrosters are just an electrical current runing through the veins on the window right? also when does the light for the defroster on turn on, is it a local on off switch or does it only turn on when the entire circuit is complete? *looks through the fsm*

check the pads that connect the wires to the grid, if you can't see anything noticeable try arcing a small flat tips screwdriver from the connector foot to the grid and see if you see any sparks which would indicate a bad connection, if either side sparks then you need to pull the foot off of the grid and repair the connection.

also check to see if there are many breaks in the gridd across the glass, do a close visual inspection to see if you see any spots that look different, corroded or copper missing from the grid, they do make repair kits for the grid if there is any breaks.

Wow go me trying to make things more difficult than they really are.
I have *NO* conductivity through the veins on the glass. There somewhere online where i can look at that repair thing you mentioned?

There's a relay in the left-rear quarter that should be checked. See the FSM for all the details.

It depends how badly damaged it is. If the wires just have small breaks in them then you can repair them with conductive silver paint (see the FSM). But if there are long lengths of wire missing then replacing the windscreen is the best answer.

I have a situation like this, except that the indicator light for the defroster stays on all the time at about half brightness, if you turn the defroster on the light goes to full brightness, but nothing happens. What does the light indicate?

I just got the same exact problem as Jaguarx7, does anyone know what might be wrong or what to check?
