Rear suspension "hanging" down left side
Hello to everyone, I need your advice
last week I got my second FC, it replaces my Civic Type R as a daily driver. (Couldnt stand that damn civic anymore)
Its an 87 Na EU spec car 109k Km complete stocker. Checked the car completly before buying, found it to be good and drove it home. Fixed every single bug so far. There is only one thing left I don't know what to think of.
The rear left side is hanging around 1 to 1.5 " lower than the right side. I checked the springs, they arent broken or otherwise damaged, as far as I can tell. The shocks dont have any oil stain or anything that leds me to think it lost oil visually.
It doesnt drive straight, have to compensate a bit to the right with the wheel to get it straight.
No side pulling when braking hard. On the touge feels like the front right wheel lifts off the ground on sharp right corners.
Speedbumps do feel a bit fishy on the left side. Anything else is just fine.
What do you think happened to the suspension? Bad shocks ?
Any input is welcome.
Best regards
Steven

MIDNFauciUSN and durtled,
Many thanks for these fast replys.
So you think its the old shocks ? From where do you get them cheap ?
Mazdatrix calls around 120 $ for a stocker one.
Remind you, I cant fit aftermarket stuff on cars in LU. Atleast nothing from the states and japan.
Many thanks

hmm if you wanted to try and narrow it down the rear shocks will swap left to right. and actually the fronts will as well.
i'm not really sure what you mean by hanging down, it sounds maybe like the car doesn't sit even?

MIDNFauciUSN and durtled suggested it might been due to the old springs.
BTW, tyre pressure was the first thing I checked, they have 2.3 Bar all round.
I got a complete set of good used struts and springs from my 86 FC which I know are OK.
I just want to make sure thats the shock/spring assembly and not something else on the subframe maybe.

Sounds like typical spring "sag" from just being plain old. Its pretty common on fcs. I once installed intrax lowering springs to have it actually raise my car about 1/4 inch due to the original springs being worn. Typically you'll find most stock suspension fcs have a lean toward the drivers side thanks in part to mostly being driven with only 1 person in the car.

Yes, its not sitting even, its hanging a bit down on the rear left side, I would say about 1 or 1,5 inches.

The other FC (see my sig) will get a set of Tein or similar once bodywork and engine has been finished.
