Someone told me that an 89 turbo rear can be used on my 88 n/a. Is this true? what type of effects would having a different gear ratio have on my car?

The gear ratios should remain the same, unless you have an automatic trans.

You can't just swap the diff (or the internals) and expect everything else to fit.&nbsp The pinion flange is different.&nbsp The half shaft axle flange are different.
