rebuild/replace the caliper...the internal surface of the piston bore is corroded and/or gunked up enough to inhibit the retraction of the piston...if the rotor's warped, it should 'hang up' on only a portion of the rotation...edit- you might be able to remedy the problem by bleeding that brake circuit, making sure the new fluid makes its way all the way to the caliper

how difficult is it too rebuild the caliper or is it easier to replace it? never rebuilt a caliper.

where would I get those parts?

I would think it would be cheaper to rebuild them but how hard is that.

makes sense about the fix since they drag almost the entire rotation. It does fluctuate a little but the caliper may be stuck. I will look closer when I have more time.

thanks

Mike

try the bleeding thing first- that solved my problems for a while...just keep the master cyl full, and activate the brakes enough (maybe 20 to 25 cycles) to replace all the old fluid with new...won't hurt to do the entire system while you're at it...this also will help to extend the life of the master cyl seals, too...

If bleeding doesn't correct the problem, which chances are it won't, buy a rebuilt caliper, don't try and rebuild it youself, especially the rear ones. You can get them at local parts stores, or check Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, Mazdatrix on line.
FYI-The rear calipers have 2 bleeders each.

Put the E-brake all the way down

Just kidding, it's not your caliper that's warped, that rarely ever happens. It's uneven pad wear. To find out a buttload more about your brakes read This article from stoptech
