What the ****? People attacking Americans for copying a Japanese design and selling it for a cheaper price? Have we gone to the Bizzaro planet here?

What in automative history, have the Japanese NOT copied and sold for a cheaper price, including the rotary engine? Sorry to tell you, but "Wankel" is not a Japanese name!

The Japanese have been some of the biggest, worst, and most obvious copycats for decades. They have even gone so far as to buy cars made in other countries, and cut them into pieces to duplicate their best features. This has been extensively done with German cars in particular.

Don't get on me or anybody else for wanting a similar product at a better price, it is called capitalism, and that's just the way **** goes. Competition is why you don't still have to pay $700 for a DVD player, or $12,000 for a plasma TV.

Talk all you want about quality vs. price. If anybody here actually felt that the utmost quality was worth paying the utmost price for, we would all be at FerrariClub.com not a friggin' Mazda forum. If any of you cares so much about quality that you will pay any price for it, I would suggest that you follow that course of action and stop acting like you don't own a car that has so many corners cut in it to sacrifice quality for price. The same ones all mass produced vehicles have.

I love how people go out and buy a car older than Vanilla Ice's carreer, that originally sold for about $20,000 and then act like they would never settle but for the absolute best in automative engineering. get off your dead high horse and take a visit to a nice place called Earth, where we live in reality.

Those were my same soapbox comment a few posts back. Americans have invented more stuff than probably every other country but we get ripped like everyone else, that's the game.

BTW: a Ferrari is overpriced. I'd take a FC, a FD and a Cosmo all JDM'ed out with every authentic RE-Amemiya part I could get my hands on and still have money left over so let's not forget that everyone has different tastes and is entitled to spend their money how they see fit. Different strokes for different folks.

Also, I was at Amemiya-san's shop in 2001 when I was living there and his shop is tiny!!! He only builds to order, not like he has tons of kits ready for sale.

Have you ever worked on an Italian car before??? Hahaha, the word quality isnt one of the words id use to describe any Italian car (other than the design

Anyway, you buy and drive a car you truly love and enjoy to drive. I own an MGB, which is quite possibly one of the most un-reliable cars ive owned. But its fun to drive. I live the by philosophy that you should drive something with style. Its an extension of your personality. Henceforth, i do not drive a tan camry. Just drive what you love, doesn't matter how much or how little it cost. Life is short, have fun, enjoy yourself and enjoy your RX-7's....

lol, that ferrari comment is priceless, italian cars and quality should never be mentioned in the same sentance.

yeah the japanese do have a way of picking the good parts of a car and running with it, but so do the germans. if you look the french are the innovators of automobile technology. the french invented, the 4 valve per cylinder head in 1912, desmodromic valves, cockpit adjustable dampers, and a bunch of other little things. as usual the germans put all this on one car and dominated (34-36)

The French have never made a good car because they are French...they mess up everything they try to do. I am amazed their tower or the Statue of Liberty has not fallen down. As for the bumper, it is called capitalism like a few have said. If there is a comparable product at a better price, we are going to buy the cheaper product. Usually, the competition will lower their prices, but do I see the RE price going down? No, I don't. And I find it hard to believe that they have put extensive money into R&D with a tiny little shop. Too bad for them, but if they did, someone has taken their R&D and given me a cheaper front bumper. I can also get the American version faster. Also, even the cheapest price for the RE I have heard, $1300, would still save me $300, and I would rather buy other things than a name brand for $300!

That's the way I see it.

My Dad owned Alfa Romeo's back before his first ever RX-2 , 3, and later 7. All I wanted before I was old enough to drive was a European car. I was handed down his FC after he got a FD and I amost can't even count how many FC's I've had over the years now.

Drive what you like. Modify how you like. Do whatchya like!
