Well for starters I knew it wasn't a 'bunch of pipe' as Wite87FC stated. I'm definitely feeling that Fritz__X. That's where alot of the price comes from to, the lightness as proven in RedR1's pic. No comment on 1987RX7Guy's $.02 I knew that was BS from a mile away.

So does that explain why JIC's 10 lb. titanium exhaust costs half as much as the RE Amemiya piece? You're paying extra for name/image, not necessarily performance.

RE Amemiya products are not over priced. Remember the prices are not ment for the america market. In japan everything is over priced. Living there it's more easier to afford a 900 dollar radiator or a 2000 dolllar exhaust system. Recently at JGTC I asked Mr. Amemiya why dosen't he open up a shop in southern california. He said "I can afford too". Most "tuners" in the U.S. don't care about the qualty and research that goes into developing aftermarket parts. Most kids just want the "looks" cause most can't afford the (1000 dollar exhuast manifold). Trust me I would love to have that RE titanium cat back exhuast system or the FEED one but i can't afford it too, untill I win the lotto, so untill then i'll settle for my no brand single muffler.



P.S. Any product in the RE Amemiya catalog is worth it's weight in gold.

I should put that in my sig for the next time I catch **** about my V8 swap.

Regardless, you can have an EXCELLENT exhaust system for half that price (or less) and a great deal of other mods... then again, that's the same thing that's been said 20 times in the post already...

any 100% titanium exhaust components are going to be expensive, add on to that the name and you have a ridiculously expensive piece.

Go get price quotes for some titanium tubing, just raw materials for building such an exhaust, and you will see why it is so expensive. Then add the cost of the expensive filler rod for tig welding it, and the expertise required to weld titanium, it's not like you're welding mild steel.

well there are other ways besides using titanium to make a lightweight exhaust... use thin walled steel tubing like buddyclub does on their specIII systems. yeah its not as durable but its as light as possible without being stupid expensive. I dunno why people would drop a lot of weight on an exhaust anyhow, you shoud be more concerned with weight higher up like al of the glass panels, the roof, hood and fenders before you bother saving weight a few inches off the ground.

60lbs off a car is significant, but not for that money, there are plenty of other 60lbs you can remove without breaking the bank.
