rattle can job
next weekend i'm gonna be putting on my bonez race pipe, corksport cat back and i'm gonna be attempting a rattle can job. i was wondering if anyone has been successful with doing this and if so any warnings. i tried doing a search and i've seen some kids saying they're gonna do this but no pics of it finished. well anyway it should be a fun weekend project and i'll post before and after pics of both projects when i'm done

as far as the spray paint, make sure you wipe everything down with some prep sol or some sort to remove all the old wax and oils in the existing paint.
A quick sand with some 800-1200 grit before spraying probably would be a good idea as well.

i did a rattle can job on my headlioght cover and THE FRICKING DUST AND CRAP THAT GOT ON IT WAS A NIGHTMARE, but i used some super fine sandpaper and did about 3 applications, then sanded it down befor the rattle can clear coat. it turned out pretty damn good for a first time haha goo dluck

you could also wash the car with a fine scothbrite pad and soapy water ( DAWN dish detergent is pretty good, DuPont actually reccomends it ) to prep the car and to remove any grease.
This is also how MAACO does it by the way. Scuff pad and some comet.

That's flat out wrong. Just dust it lightly and do it many many times. I spraypainted my fender with auto touch-up paint, there's no stripes. KEEP YOUR DISTANCE.. I stayed 8-12" away minimum...
Going in an irregular pattern certainly won't hurt things, though....

Don't spary too far or you'll have dry spots...
Guys, if you're not gonna give complete advice, don't give it.
I black primered my RX-7 before I painted it... It looked tight for $50 worth of primer/sealer!

The great thing was that whenever I would get any paint chips, I'd just use the ol' spray can again.

i was wondering if anyone knew about using bondo and like how long it takes to dry and what not. i'm gonna fill in some small dents/dings with this and mold the side skirts to the car using it and wanna know how much time i'll really need to let this sit before i start to paint. thanks

bondo is the easiest thing in the world. mix some grey stuff (bondo) with some red stuff (hardener) and apply to need area with moderate pressure. the more hardener you use the faster it hardens. don't use too much though, it will become un-useable pretty quickly... a matter of minutes. then about 30 mins until you can start sanding it. really simple stuff. just read the back of the bondo can and you shouldn't mess it up.

me and 2 friends completely black primered his truck in under half an hour and it cost under 14$
u just need to scuff all the paint with a fine grit sandpaper if u get ne on the windows u just have to use an sos pad and it will come off like nobodies buisness i also painted my winter beater this way amazingly easy cheap and fast
just try not to get any runs they are annoying to get out
thin light coats is the trick
and if u can do it somewhere where there is no wind
i painted my car on my driveway and its no cakewalk when ur paint isnt hitting the car and its like 6 inches away
anyways i hope this helped

i am actually painting my car in my garage because i figured any wind would make it a bitch to paint. but it's good to know about getting anything off the window, hopefully i'll do a good enough tape job where i don't run into that. i can't wait to do this, only 7 more days.
