sounds fun, i would like to run autoX, but ive heard that the track is a whoooooooooole lot cheaper than autoX, something like a couple autoX runs can equal a whole day on the track?

hmm... our local SCCA chapter charges $25 for competition runs, and 10 for "fun runs", both sets are 5-runs.. So for 25 you can get 5 attempts, for 35 you can get 10.. Both of those are 5 dollars cheaper if you're an SCCA member (me next year!).

sounds cheaper than $100 track day. Of course, I'm sure you'd get more time on the track for $100. You had better, anyway

I do plan on getting out to a real track next season, though.


Mindspin311 - Be VERY careful.. Activities such as this are rather addicting, and will drain you financially, and leave your girlfriend wondering why going to "church" every other weekend involves grabbing a helmet and a cooler

You mean like http://www.nepa-scca.com/ (North East PA SCCA region)? You guys even have a real track over there.

I found that by going to www.scca.org I know that some people from the far east (Poconos) have joined us in Central PA ( http://www.scca-cpr.org ) .. We race near State College.

o ok state college is not to far from me! i think 2 hours i would take a trip there for that the sesson is over right?? and dam i didn't know there was one for nepa thanks for the info!

Yeah, I think it takes you guys about 2 hours to get to here.. Not too bad at all Sadly, though, our season is over for the year I had a hope that this translates well for tuning next season, when it's boosted lot of fun with my 7 up there every event, and learned a lot about tuning my standalone.

Definately make it out next season, you won't regret it.

o i will i will have some time to get use to my 7 since i have only had it for 1 month i love it still got a lot of practice to do with it i ran on the track and i was only able to get a 14.4 to much spin in the begining but i will get it down now i want to start getting into running like this too! hope we can meet up and you can school me with your knowledge!

Autocross is technically more $ per minute than track days. But, $20 for 5x 60 second runs is better than $300 for 1hr of track time for my budget.

While the $/minute ratio is better on track, I've only seen 2 cars blow engines on an autocross run....I've seen 25-30 at track days...and I've been to 70 or 80 autocrosses and 6 track days...

Nevermind that you basically have to buy a new set of tires and brake pads every single track day, maybe every other track day if your smart with it.

In the end, autocross IS cheaper.

Well since Ive never done this before its nice to have an experienced autocrosser ride with you a few times. My friend, who was in the passenger seat, helped me find the course and gave me a few pointers as he had already ran that day.

actaully, having a passenger tends to help........ all the x-crossers ive talked to let passengers ride all the time, cause it evens the weight out!

Sweet pic dude!!! sorry I couldnt make that one, but Ill see you at another one soon. My track event at vir is next weekend, the 19th, and 20th. Should be pretty interesting.

Once I do this event, Im gonna take the rear end apart and start replacing things

Then in the spring ill hit up a few auto-x's with you, gotta get them in for mazda comp!!
