Is this some new ricer thing, or are you asking how to open the hood?

I wouldnt think it would help the T2 intercooler....the seal on the bottom of the hood is used to seal the IC to the vent in the hood. Raising the hood would break the seal.

This has been covered time and time again. It is DANGEROUS. In an accident the bolts will sheer off and the hood won't crumple, it'll go through the window instead.

Yeah, PM 1987rx7guy and he will tell you what WOULD have happened if he had that mod done to his car. Not like he would ever do that in a million years...but that hood did it's job.

its a steel (or alum) reinforced hood, with a nice narrow point of penetration. I believe its entirely possible for it to sheer off raised bolts and penetrate the windshield.

good way for a n00b to introduce himself, by swearing up a storm and calling eveyone idiots. (yes i see you joined in 2003, but only 7 posts)

thats just stupid to say it can never happen.

he's not talking about the hood unlatching and the back bolts breacking. he's talking about in an accident the hood might not crumple ,it might get luanched torwards you due to hitting another car or a light pole or something. I'm not saying it will happen I'm just saying that its dumb to say that it couldn't happen

IF the front latch broke, AND the bolts sheared off (like spacing the hood bolts up 1-2 cm would actually put enough stress on them to shear off), which would never happen in the first place, do you really think the hood would fly straight back, totally disregarding the rake of the windshield?

that wouldnt even happen if you were going about 500 mph with your hood unlatched and the back bolts hand tightened.

stop spreading retarded information that you made up 5 minutes ago. think before you press that reply button.
I guess you've never seen what happens to an rx7 after a 60mph front impact? Regardless of what the hell your front latch does, i've seen the hoods bent damn near in half, also, raising it up moves it above the cowl, where the ears would normally be caught, and since the angle at which the force is being applied lets the hood crumpe in an upwards direction allowing the hinges to flex upwards, it doesn't sheer the bolts off. Now you go and use those stupid brackets that lift it up and change the angle, what happens when it's hit? Instead of crumpling and lifting the hinges, it sheers the bolts off and sends the roof flying back, and instead of crumpling the 3ft, it moves back through the windshield that far, and sometimes comes completely free. You'd be a god damned moron if you think the windshield is going to stop it, and yes, i HAVE seen it happen before.

i dont know where you guys get the energy to type super long posts about something so stupid. plus the whole crash thing is bunk. stop acting like some crash test engineer just cause you have a stupid ME degree or something. show me a bloody pic of someones head cut off by a hood, and ill believe you. next your gonna tell me rollin my car with the windows down increases the chance of the roof colapsing by 2395835.33%.

ok, for all you that say it is dangerous, try this! take off your hood and place it up against the A pillars. then tell me if it will even fit through the windshield. if the bolts snap, it smore likely for the hood to slide up over the car.

Not quite, the forces are almost NEVER applied evenly, which always will send one end up higher than the other, which either puts one corner of it through and cruses it against an a-pillar, or it simply goes through angled.

fucktards

Plain an simple its a stupid idea in three ways that i can think of now . . .

Looks like ****

Its not really helping keeping things cool in there, a proper belly pan and air path to the radiator will keep your temps optimal

SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY!!!!! regardless of what you think, sliding up and over etc. car crashes are VERY random and the variable of what the hood could do is unpredicable in that position, plain and simple, dont be a stupid ricer, or maybe you should have your hood raised so when your street racing your car you hit something head on, your hood comes through the windsheild and decapitates your stupid *** . . . morons
