racing seat and harness bar
Does anyone have any experience installing racing seats and the harness bar, and where might a good place be to order them? this is something im unfamiliar with, and i hate to order it from some random site i find on google. Do you have to buy the same brands mounting brackets along with the seat? :/
thanks

dont buy the cheap knock off ebay seats they are whack and the materials suck, most are very uncomfortable and sit way too high when you put them in...
what kind of seats are you looking for? reclining bucket seats, fixed bucket seats? side mount, bottom mount?
Yes most of the time you would have to buy the same seats and sliders/brackets (ex. Corbeau seats only work with corbeau brackets) unless it says universal, but always check the measurements of the bolt holes on the underside of the seats you buy... if you need a custom fit brackets for any seat i recommend WEDGE engineering.. they can custom make just about any car for any seat....
look around in the for sale section lots of good stuff come up

i wanted to use these seat belts in my 7:P I have seen people use them on the steet/stip cars just fine, not sure i would use them on a track only car. but would be slick for a show and go car.

and here are the cheapest seats i know to no be a complete wast of time and money with out spnding a $1000 on seats not the best seating option, but will work over the stock seats. they also have brackets for our cars.

yeah i plan on spending money for a good seat but i was looking at something thats fixed with the brackets that let you slide, i know the reclining ones are pretty expensive :/ but i was looking at some 300 dollar sparco fighter seats. also i heard you had to remove the rear speakers in the fc to install the bar?

the only "Bar" i have seen going between the speaker humps in a FC is a Rear Strut Tower Bar, it dosnt make much sence to put a Harness Bar in that location, a bit far back IMO.
what are you getting this seating for? is it your DD? weekend warrior, or pure track car? i would think long and hard befor putting a non reclining seat in my DD.. might do it to my weekend warrior and a track only car kinda needs them and just for giggles, where are you seeing these harness bars at?

I have a momo start, non recliner in my FC when it was my DD. Worked great. Only downfall was that I had to either put stuff behind the pass seat or in through the hatch if it wouldn't go through the drivers side door.

its going to be a secondary daily driver i suppose but regardless i have sat in some comfy fixed racing seats, so i know there out there. this is the bar http://www.racinglab.com/nrg-harness-bar-017.html
its basicly a rear strut bar with the a spot to loop your harness through from what i understand. also do you have to fabricate any mounting points to install those harness seat belts?

Dude, this is safety equipment. Don't skimp on it. Find out if it's SCCA approved, or anything like that. If not, then don't put your life in it's hands. It's a neat idea, but I'm not sure if it will work. If it is approved, let me know

Making a Seat Bracket isnt all that hard!.
I bought a bride Zeta ii seat a while back (side mount) and when i was looking for slider/bracket they where like 200$ USD i was like mmm nah ill make my own. So i go to my friends *Howi* and we both created a great side mount sliding bracket mount for the seat from the original fc3s Seat slider/Bracket mount. !! ill will post up pics of how it looks like once i come back from vac, My bride zeta ii seat was my DD for about 2 months till the car was getting turned into a Track beast, it was great. The only downside was the seat was super small (small*skiny* and tall people only seat) and my friend couldn't drive it on the track lol XD.
When your buying a seat i would recommend trying out different seats at your local import seller dealer or where ever their are Racing seats. every seat has some odd things exp: Can be for tall and skiny people, isnt that comfortable, to short, and etc.. even when they are showing the dimensions it can look right but also it can be wrong to your sitting comfort level. .. i wouldn't recommended buying a seat that you haven't sat in.

Do it right dude. Or use the stock seat belt with your bucket seat. That's what I've been doing for several years now. Why? Cause I'm going to do the rest of it right + not half *** ****. Lots of people have a roll bar in a daily. Why? Cause they want to do **** right + not risk it.

If you want a racing-style seat as opposed to a real racing seat, then just buy one that is designed to work with the stock seat belt. Racing style seats are called "sport seats", "street seats", or some name other than racing seats. Real racing seats (aka competition seats) do not recline and should have an FIA certification. Sport seats usually recline and are usually much more comfortable.

SUNHAZE ,buy what ever seat fits your car .If you go to summit racing they have great alum sets you can use fixed or adjustable , the bar however is critical. the race seat belts attach to the stock mounts ,the lower belt (crotch belt) is there to stop you from sliding forward ,it should come out of the seat under your butt, and go back and be bolted to the floor with grade 10 bolts and washers to stop it tearing away in the event of a collision. The shoulder belts should be level to your shoulders to the bar which will be the same height , once past the bar they can go to the floor, if you have a very strong bar 1 1\2 or 2inch installed you can attach to it as well ,the bar can be attached to your original shoulder belt location bolts which do the same with your stock belts, for a little reference the boys are right check SCCA rules on line for the info.............good luck.............................................

Racing seats and harnesses are designed to work with a roll cage, and the harness needs to attach to the roll cage within a specific angle and distance range in order to work properly. See the SCCA GCR for proper mounting procedures. The Honda ricers you see running around town with their fake racing seats and fake harnesses are usually in much more danger of gettting killed or injured in a collision than they would have been with the stock safety items in place. I have seen some fake roll cages that are outright dangerous.

NRG has a harness bar for your Belts.
Now,if you wanna skip the 4 point Harness altogether,I HIGHLY Recommend a CG lock,.It slips on your stock belts,
www.cg-lock.com
This small $50 unit replaces all that "crap" that you are gonna put on your "daily driver".

No, submarine belts do not mount where the lap belts do.
For chist sake, this is not WikiPedia where you can make **** up on safety questions. People can use your advice and die.
On the FIA site they also have the seat belt mounting criteria decided with actual testing.
Go there and search. Or go to the SCCA rulebook as it came from the FIA certification.
