Racing Chip, Should I? and How Much $$$

I own a '87 rx-7, non-turbo with a bunch of upgrades, recently I've thought about getting a chip for it. I'm fairly new to the world of rx's and have virtually no clue what a chip does.

Could someone please fill me in on what a chip function is and how much one would cost.

Thanx

It's waste of money on an NA - there are several folks that will argue otherwise, but I'm still waiting for dyno sheet to prove there are actually power gains from the ECU reprogram.

Ditto on the ECUs....

You could get a S-AFC and lean out the midrange on a dyno. Costs about the same as a chip .

there are dyno sheets at the mdrace site don't know if those are enough for ya. i think the main reason for the reprogram would be the raised rpm.

I would say, with the S-AFC you can just run richer on the closed loop, and you should have a hredline, but I'm not sure what duty the closed loop runs stock.
