Racing beat REV TII

Racing beat REV TII
i have an 87 tii with only 40k on it, and after 8 stale years i finally have it running correctly. after doing lots of reading. i think my first major expense is going to be the racing beat REV-TII turbo back.
just wondering if there is anything i should know before purchasing it. i know their site is talking about a 100$ fuel cut controller. is that really necessary or is there a diy to bypass that? and in the past someone told me that i need to make sure my turbo waste gate is ported. is this true?

you need both of the things above. you should also get a boost gauge to let you know what your turbo is doing (no, the stock one doesn't count, it's amazingly inaccurate). I didn't port my waste gate when I first got my REV-TII and I blew my turbo... thankfully it wasn't my engine.

Absolutely awesome system.
I have it on my car and wouldn't ever change it.
Here's a buddy's car.

The S4 waste gate is a terrible design at only 12mm in diameter (especially when compared to the S5) so unless you port it you're going to be looking at a lot of boost creep with a free flowing exhaust like the REV-II. By the way I've got a REV-II on my car and absolutely love it!

thanks for the help guys. after doing much reading, and trying to find diy’s on a waste gate port I’ve noticed that the most popular one seems to be the aaron cake one here. is it really necessary for me to port the waste gate out to 35mm or just smaller than the stock flapper door? i'm not lazy. i would love for my waste gate to be that open. it's just the only thing i don't know how to do is weld. is there a place where i can buy a larger flapper door? is that and option? thanks again!

You are going to need to port your waste gate as well as getting either the rtek 1.5 or 2.1 depending on your budget. The 2.1 will allow you to turn up the boost alot more safely but the rtek 1.5/7/8 will let you turn up the boost a little without too much cause for concern.
I don't even know why people bother with an fcd anymore the rtek is just 50 bucks more and provides alot more features

i ran this exhaust with the s4 turbo the s5 turbo (and the 3 rotor..)
with the s5 turbo, the boost even on a cold day, it would run like 6psi.
with the s4 turbo boost was very temp dependent. hot day it would do like 8ish, cold night, 13psi...
6psi, its fine as is.
8psi you need the fuel cut defensor. and IMO you should at least change the fuel filters (in tank!) if not upgrade to the FD/supra/walbro fuel pump. the stock ecu, can't compensate for the 25% increase in power this exhaust gives you.
my car was totally fine with the boost creep, but i made sure it was ok before i did it too

Theres not really that many downsides on getting a REV TII. Unless you are worried about weight.
If you do get it, get another person to help. I installed the exhaust my self with no supporting tools and the next day my shoulders are sore as hell. Damn presilencer weights atleast 20 pounds lol. I was holding it with one hand and tightening the bolts with the other with 3 inches of space between the bottom of the floor to my chest lol.
The exhaust is the best sounding exhaust Ive ever heard.
No rx7 should be without a fcd on a stock wastegate.

I agree with BLACK KNIGHT..it is a heavy exhaust,But if you are looking for durability then it will Suit you just fine.I have had the same exhaust on 3 cars, and 4 engines!..(all being the original purchased exhaust.)
If you are looking at weight reduction, then it would not be a candidate for the car..and you could either Live With it and reduce the Weight elsewhere, or start the hunt for a Lighter exhaust.

One thing to also keep in mind, the Racing Beat exhaust is simply louder than stock exhaust. Not horribly different, but certainly louder.
That said, I have RB RevII on my S4 TurboVert, old school RB REV on my S5 TurboVert, RB true dual header back on my GSL-SE, and HAD RB manifold back for NA's on my AutoVert. I ended up taking the RB cans off the AutoVert and put the stockers back on as the RB ones were simply way TOO LOUD for my daily driving. Don't know why the RB cans were so much louder than the exhaust noise from the RB cans on my other cars.

Sorry for thread from the dead, but I thought this information might be useful to people.
I just weighed my Racing Beat Turbo REVII Exhaust because I was thinking of shipping it and here are the weights if people are interested.
Downpipe: 5.7
Resonator: 17.8
Y-Pipe: 7.4
Muffler (x2): 42.2
Total: 73.1
Yes that's a lot, but after having owned it it is the most solidly built exhaust I've ever owned and the sound is nigh impossible to beat so I say it's totally worth it. I'm also not sure how much say an Apex'i N1 weighs, but I bet it's more than you think since the weight of this thing surprised me.

73 pounds is just about 12 gallons of gas lol
Most exhaust like the N1s and its kind weight about 30-40 pounds. Im approximating based on carrying the entire exhaust on my shoulder....weights less than a 50pound bag of rice im certain
If I was serious about weight reduction in my car, Id look into losing weight myself
I love the sound of the REVTII

im pretty sure just the y-pipe and mufflers of the stock system weighed more than that. lol. but this system is awesome. awesome sound, not too loud/obnoxious and NOTICABLE power gains.

I picked up a lightly used RB REVII for $300, a deal I couldn't pass up. And now, the police don't even look at me as I cruise on by. With the 3" SSautochrome exhaust I used to have, I was given a unmuffled engine ticket...

Since it was currently sitting on my garage floor, I just stepped on a scale while holding the stock catback. It may be slightly off, but it's around 63 lbs. Almost as much as the full RB system, as was suggested.
