Quick question about my 5&6th ports :)

Alright ive got an 88 vert s4 5 speed with 97k original miles, bone stock, and it was owned by a guy who never drove it hard. I read somewhere that you should grease the actuaters on it to either make the ports work or make them work better and i did so but my question is how much effort do you have to apply for them to open up if you do it by hand? Mine got alot easier to open once i applied some grease but im curious if mine are functioning properly. I have to apply some pressure to the point where it leaves an imprint on my thumb and then when i do this they only open about a 1/4 of the travel from the little lock pieces it has. Im pretty sure they work cause it has decent power but im just wondering if i should replace them because they have too much resistance, or if thats normal. Thanks everyone.

The aux port actuators do need to have some resistance. They balance spring pressure versus air pressure to control opening.
A good way to test aux port function is to put a dab of grease on the rod that connects the dashpot and the rotating arm and then go open it up. When you get back, check to see how much of the grease was rubbed off. The actuators should open all the way to the stops on the rotating arm, or at least close to the stops. (I have yet to see a stock aux port that opened all the way...)
