Quick FTP lense question

I wanna remove my FTP lense on the passenger side to allow more air to my HKS cone filter..My question is that is it really worth it to get air into the filter or just a waste of time..does anyone have any experiances with doing it?Any power gain??thanks fellaz

well if you have not modifyed the metal behind the dheadlight you will get very minimal gains probably less than 1 pony. I would suggest doing that mod where you remove the winshield washer bottle and put a duct that goes into the air box.

P.S. I have the pass side FTP lens removed

p.s i have both lenses removed, shaved the lense mounts (little side tabs) and cut a hole behind my headlight. Didnt really notice much, but hell, MORE AIR makes you better feeling.

I never really cared for the ftp's when you grind the ftp mount tabs out, it looks great, it almost looks as if it were meant to be open vent holes

What do you mean by shaveing the tabs?

Where could I relocate the washer bottle if I remove it to make that duct?

I'm quite sure those who think removing the FTP lenses will let fresh air into the air filter have never actually looked to see how air could get in there. If they did they would see that it can't! There's solid metal seperating the engine bay from the area where the headlights are. This is a completely pointless mod that will do nothing other than make your car look broken.

FIrst there IS a small inlet from the wires that control the headlight motors so you are kinda wrong about the metal. BUT it is still just about pointless unless you cut the metal and run around with your light sup all the time. Th look broken part is VERY debatable since I had my car without FTP lenses and it looked good at least to me. He might like the way it looks without them.

I would sugest some ducts and a cold air box.

Yeah, it's about 2" and has a rubber piece around it to keep water out. It you think air will flow through this you're nuts. Please don't correct me unless it's of some use.

It looks like the lenses have fallen out. I doubt many people would think it's anything else, but each to his own.

did you fail to notice this part. I was just mentioning to him that there is a small openinge and admitted that you were correct that it was pointless unless he made a larger hole in the metal. I did not mean to get you all pissed but I was trying to post usefull info that is correct so that he understands his options.
