quick aux. valve question

i'm real stupid and confused myself when taking out the auxilary port valves (i think thats what they're called, its the sleeve that slides into the engine). Just to make sure, the slot in the sleeve faces downward right? Thanks in advance.

You mean the air passage? Depends on which way the actuator is going to move it. Not to hard to picture it in your head if you have the parts laying in front of you...

There are also indicator marks on the small "bar" that runs across the outboard side of the sleeves- the Haynes manual shows a good pic of the position they should be in when installing them...

looking at the engine from teh passenger side they are tilted kind of like / \ if you know what i mean

ok thanks, i'll go look at my hanes manual again. Also what indicating marks? I can see that the shaft running across the sleeve is not symmetrical so is that what your talking about?

EDIT: nevermind i the haynes manual answered my question. problem solved.
