Quick antifreeze question

Ok... So I'm somehow losing coolant. I know my hoses are all fine, radiator is not leaking, etc. I'll fill it up one day, and the next day the low coolant light will come on intermittently. The day after it will stay on all the time. My first thought was the heater core, but I wanted to see what you guys thought. I have my heater turned off always, but there is always heat coming from the vents. Not much but I can definitely feel it blowing. It's not ambient heat coming from a random vent. If I switch the controls from windshield (default for me) to the dash vents, the heat blows through there. What do you guys think?

There is a hose that runs down the firewall near the oil pedestal filter. It usually is exposed to oil, and fails quite often without any warning. That would be where I'd check first. And it is a b*tch to change, unless you have dainty hands.

^ ... and the usual reason it is exposed to oil is due to cracked o-rings in the oil filter pedestal, so you may want to change those too if you find a leak in the hose.

There are 2 of them:

That hose goes to the heater core on the driver side.
I remember when mines was eaten up b the oil leaking on it. The oil leak was just drops everyday, eating the rubber hose little by little. When mines went, it was during the rain, and I was on my way to work in the morning. I noticed smoke coming out from my hood, and m engine overheated for 20 secs before I pulled over and shut it off at a 7 eleven. Had to cut out 2 inches of the hose since thats where the small leak was.

Did you check to see if your coolant seals went out?
If your radiator cap is not holding pressure, all the coolant will overflow into the overflow bottle and once thats full all the coolant will leak out.

Coolant seals are good. This problem just started recently. Plus I just rebuild the motor like 60 miles ago... I could change out the rad cap. I'll also check those hoses when daylight comes...

Heat will always come out of the vent (or whatever temp you have your HVAC controls set to) even if it is totally off. This happens in all cars. When you fill your coolant/water you should have the car running with the heat on full blast. You want to fill the entire system. I'd say let the car idle and walk around the car/look in the engine bay and inspect for leaks. If you are losing coolant it's going somewhere. Check for drips and puddles. And worst case scenario, you are burning it. Is your exhaust white? Does it have a sweet smell to it?

You have two problems.

First you have a leak or bad cap.

2nd you have a bad air mix motor or bad Logicon.

The two are unrelated and should not be confused together.
