quick 5zigen copse wheel fitment question

I am planning to buy the 5zigen copse rims for my 89' GTUand was just doulbe checking the fitment. The rims are 17X7.5 114.5 43offset. My only concern was that teh offset is 40-42 on teh GTU. Will the 43 offset rims still fit fine, will teh setup rub the wheel wells or suspension at all? Also I have heard of people doing the 18s of the copse...do they look good or are they too big. Any quick answer would be a great help, thanks.

Based on the 7" 40 offset factory wheels, the 7.5" 43 offset will move the inner part of the rim .354" closer to the strut assembly @ 3/8". It will move the outer part .118" closer to the fender @ 1/8". I would say it would be a tight fit when tire installed being it is moving closer to the suspension. A spacer may be needed.

Ok then my next question is this. I have done alot of searches and notice some people are running wheels with lower then 40 offsets. I can get the same wheel in 35 offset, would that be a better choice? would it fit better?

Once again based on the factory 7" rim 40 offset. The 7.5" 35 offset-the inner part would be 1mm closer to the strut. Let's say it stays the same for 1mm @ 1/32".
The outer part of the wheel would be 11mm (7/16") closer to the fender. Think that would be a better fit.
