Question about rear caliper..
What is the difference in rear calipers between the ones for vented and non-vented rotors? I need to replace my driverside rear caliper.... the piston is froze and wore my inner brake pad down to the metal.
I have an 86 GXL with cross-drilled rotors.....

The difference is 4 pistons vs. just 1. They can be changed over, but it's not just a matter of changing the calipers - Other stuff has to be changed, too. Just go to Pep Boys or Auto Zone and get a rebuilt 1-piston. It's all the brakes you need on the rear, anyway, and it's a lot cheaper than changing over to a 4-piston caliper.

Ok... im confused... Mazdatrix states that the "normal" suspension has the non-vented..... the GXL came with the auto-adjust suspension... which i guess would mean it has the vented rotors..... my rear calipers are single-piston. I didnt' think there were 4-piston calipers for the rears.... only the fronts, which i do have.
Can anyone elaborate?
Thanks,
Matt

Do NOT listen to nopistons. All FC's have 1 piston brake calipers on the rear. As for the difference between the calipers for vented and nonvented rotors I dont know.
