question about gas and 5th and 6th
I have had several unexplained problems with my car.
I was hoping that someone could shed some light on my questions.
If my 5th and 6th ports are stuck would that cause my car to cosume large amounts of gas?
It can eat up a half a tank in a day.
If the 5th and 6th ports are stuck would that cause my ECU to go bad?
I recently found some resistors blown in the ECU that went to the relief solenoid valve, the switching solenoid valve and the split air solenoid valve.
Could these things cause a bad idle? I want to repair the ECU but I'm affraid that it will just burn these resistors if I just install the repaired ECU with out checking this stuff.

What kind of milage, anyway? I burn three tanks a day... when I drive to Florida.

No...not a half tank a day as you've indicated. They may cause your car's performance to suffer a little, but that's about it.
>If the 5th and 6th ports are stuck would that cause my >ECU to go bad?
No. If one of those solenoids shorted out, than that would probably lead to one or more switching transistors burning up. The operation of the auxiliary ports would have no influence on the ECU.
>Could these things cause a bad idle?
Yes...they may contribute to a slight unsteady idle.
Prior to replacing my engine about a year ago, one of my auxiliary ports on the original engine was stuck open for a period of probably 2 or more years. Like I said earlier, the only noticable (just barely) effect would be performance and a slightly unsteady idle.
