question about e shaft form 85 gslse
i want to install the 85 gslse shaft in my 88 t2.
racing beat says to do this because this shaft does not have the thurmal bypass pellet, but they also say to modify the stock oil jet assemblies with a webber carberator jet.
what would be the down fall of not doing this and running the 85 shaft in stock form. will there still be an advantage to running this shaft over the 88 turbo shaft.
also is this shaft a drop in replacement for the 88 shaft, or do i need to buy some other parts.
thanks

The shaft is a drop in replacement. And as RB says, there is no oil thermo pellet in the older 13B shafts. However, instead of finding the older shaft, why not just shim the existing pellet or use a solid replacement? There's a big thread in the archives that covers the "pellet mod", and I believe that it has sources for the solid pellets.
As for the oil jet mod, that is only useful on heavily modified cars or those that stay continually at high RPM. And a higher pressure oil regulator is also required.
