![Question](https://www.rx7club.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I'm planning on doing a S5 turbo swap for my 88 SE this spring. I wanted to know if the differential housing is the same size on the S4 and S5. if so can the gears be changed rather than replacing the whole differential? also if they are the same size would I still need to replace the halfshafts or would they be fine to use? also if anyone has some advise for going about this swap like what order to do things in or if there are any parts that turned up that you needed I'd appreciate any info you have.

The Turbo differential is the same size for either a S4 or S5...
BUT
The Turbo differential is a different size than a non turbo differential, so you would need to replace everything.

To expand on Icemark's comments:
The TII differential gear set will not fit the non-turbo differential. The TII uses 8" gears while the N/A uses 7".
The turbo transmission is longer, the driveshaft is shorter with a different rear bolt pattern along with the TII differential, and the halfshafts are larger.
If you want a TII driveline, you need everthing from the flywheel back.
You can get away with using a non-turbo trans if you buy (or have made) a special driveshaft that will slip into the NT trans and bolt to the TII rear, but then you still have to swap to a TII rear and halfshafts.
All of this would have been answered in a simple search.
