Question QuEsTiOn

Question: I know you have been asked this many times, I did a search and read through the old sticky topic, but because I was on break, and my internet use is monitored I couldn't make it through the whole thing by the time my break was over (they can't monitor me typing this though). But anyways....what exactly does the Pulsation damper do. I have heard that it softens the pulse of fuel flowing from the fuel pump. Could this be a fuel pressure regulator? The reason why I am asking this is because the screw fell out on mine and started leaking fuel. A local junk yard wants $50 for a used one!!! I did read that this should be replaced if the screw falls out, but I also read some time ago that you can get some lock tight (i think thats the name) and put it on the screw so it won't come out again. Which one of these are true and why?
Thanks a ton!
Justin

The fuel pulsation dampner and the fuel pressure regulator are 2 seperate things...
Fuel pressure regulator (on your top secondary fuel rail) .... ummm Regulates fuel pressure....

The pulsation dampner does just that, Softens the pulses from the fuel pump so it doesn't damage the fuel injectors.. or they get a good even flow of fuel,,.. or beats me.. but that's pretty much what they do.. and as Ted said in that sticky post.. they are CRAP and the start to leak, and if your's is leaking or the screws are coming out REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE ASAP.. I wouldn't drive on it while it's leaking, because gasoline can ignite when it gets hot enough on the engine there... Once that occurs you will have a big red thing called fire burning everything up.. injectors... Vacuum hoses.. your whole wiring harness... Sounds expensive..
new part costs little over 100 I think from mazdatrix... I think

Yeah, I've already went through the whole engine fire thing. It sux! It wasn't because of the pulsation damper though, it was because I didn't put that spacer between the housing and the primary fuel rail (due to my lack of knowledge at the time). I had to replace the whole engine harness, upper intake, lower intake, egr, vacuum lines, oil lines, gas lines, just about everything. Luckily I have a friend with parts so I got hooked up for an excellent price. Had it done in a weekend. Gotta go
Thanks!!
