Q about setting end play

Just the other day I came across a thread (which I can't seem to find again) in which someone said that if you just simply replace the 2 torrington bearing and reuse your spacer, you don't have to mess around with getting the right thickness of spacer. I'm guessing this is because the bearings wear out and the spacer doesn't really.

If that is correct, I figure I'll just buy the bearings and be done with it (I'll still check the play of course). Is this alright or a bad idea?

Thanks

The thing I'm getting at is I would like to buy everything in one order if possible. It may turn out in the end that I'll have to make 2 orders anyway.

If I check the endplay the normal way I would have to buy my rebuild kit and then once its to the point of checking endplay, then I have to make another order for the correct spacer.

BAH, whatever, maybe I'll just buy the bearings and the V spacer.

FWIW: If its too loose, you can tighten it up by sanding the spacer.

Good luck...

You'll likely be OK, but you need to check the end play to ensure you didn't screw up in assembling the front stackup.

If you are not replacing any housings or irons, you will most likely be fine.

Even if you ordered the spacer a head of time, you would have to order a range of them because you don't know which way you will have to go if the endplay is off.

So essentially, do you want to not wait around for spacers later and buy a range now? Or wait for a spacer later if you need one? Cost wise it will probably come out the same.
