It depends on what turbo you're using, what manifold, if you've modified your existing intake in any way and about 5,000 other factors. My guess is you're probably new here (and probably to the car?) and just want to make it a turbo and haven't really looked at what will be involved? I'd suggest checking the FAQ at the top of the page, it explains pretty well all the different methods.

Yeah there's actually lots involved with adding a turbo to your n/a engine. My thought is: unless u have a fresh rebuilt or relatively healthy n/a motor to work with, just do a full t2 swap......why turbo a tired old engine that will blow in no time? Youd be back to square one again with a turbo and no motor.....

I'll probably be flamed for this, but why not spend the money on rebuilding and doing a nice port job on your motor? Money better spent than slopping a turbo on.

^^More time, more money and less horespower is usually not someone's goal.
+1 on aaroncakes website.......it may be possible that aaron could be maybe working on a turbo "KIT" for you 6 port guys.

Not what I mean. It would seem (due to lack of info) that the OP's intention is to slap a turbo on an engine that has not been rebuilt. What I am saying is, his money would be better spent rebuilding the motor getting it ported in the process, and worry about the turbo later.

You don't need an exhaust spacer if you buy a turbo upper and lower intake manifold and either do some fabrication on the lower turbo intake manifold to match the non turbo intake ports OR buy a lower intake manifold from JAPAN2LA (or send your turbo lower intake manifold to him and let him machine/weld it right).

There isnt. Japan2la is the most reliable jspec engine importer on this site, who also happens to machine the manifold.
jjwalker: If the engine has poor compression and he is going to slap the turbo on....then ofcourse its a bad idea. His engine would be like......DYNOMITE!!! If hes gotta be in there anyway, i agree with porting the engine, then turboing it.
OP: dont rush ****....but if you do have a healthy engine, properly turbo it, then tuning it is even more important.

the guy i bought the turbo from said it came off a s4 stock. so the turbo and exh. manifold are stock too. i just wanna put it on just to have a feel for the whole turbo thing. im not planning on going NHRA pro. lol. im pretty sure 6-8 psi is not bad to run. i appreciate those who gave me the advice to dump on a new engine or port it but i just want to be unique and do something cool. lol.

Then on top of those, about a million other different little things, all so you don't blow it up. Pretty much leave anything out of that, especially the fuel, and you'll blow your engine very very quickly.

as scrims said, its not just putting the turbo on. there are a couple of "main" ways to turbo your n/a, but no standards. everyones six port turbo is different, thats how custom it is. there is ALOT involved, the least of which is buying the right parts (which will all depend on whoch way you wanna do it). do LOTS of research or else you will have the car halfway apart and the end up having it in the garage for a year cuz your planning and executing simeoultaneously. gl man, if you take your time, find the info and really hink it through several times before even picking up a wrench/ordering a part, youll be fine

There was a guy here that put down 253whp@8psi on an S5 6PT with a Haltech. The setup will make more power than a TII and have better off-boost reponse. The conversion really is no big deal...I think its overhyped. It only sounds complicated because there are a lot of ways to do it.
Get some intake manifolds from Japan2LA, re-route coolant lines to go through the turbo, get an oil filter pedestal from Banzai for $25, remove and weld a fitting on your oil pan.
Thats IT for the custom stuff, everything else (ECU/SENSORS/TURBO/MANI/DP/INJECTORS/FD PUMP) will bolt on. Just read up on plumbing, and find a hardware store and plumbing store nearby. If you want the setup to be reliable make sure to use heat shielding and route lines/harness away from high-heat areas.

Not much to say really. Looks like a 6 port block with all TII stuff. This works well but I always wonder why not go with a TII bock in this case?

khan is definately right, at least halfway. its not as big a deal as everyone makes it seem, especially if you use TII intake components. this is what i did on my 6 port turbo and it is the most straightforward way to do it, much less headache and custom stuff than keeping your na intake.
however, the reason i told you to make sure you do the research is that first, your obviously new to fc's, and theres nothing worse then gettin your new ride and then getting bogged down on stuff when you were only trying to make it better. second, its the little things that create the biggest hang ups, and most of them are not "custom" problems. they are simply things that you forgot. also, depends on how far you wanna take it (swapping the tranny too? non-stock turbo? ss lines?). also,

the guy is actually helping me do my 6-port turbo project this summer. I have an s5 turbo and all the s4 TII intakes, including a modified lower intake. Plans for probably a BNR hybrid in the future, along with full standalone. I decided to do this instead of a full engine swap because I just rebuilt my NA engine not 5k ago, so it's very strong and healthy.
