Put Bonez Downpipe and Midpipe on

Whats up guys,
I decided to order the RPerformance, Bonez DP and MP and put the DP on 2 weeks ago and the MP on Yesterday. The prices were very reasonable campared to other's that I was lookin at. If your going this route give plenty of time for install and lots of patience especially if you don't have access to a lift. Also spend the extra bucks for the gasket and bolt kit. First off I started with the DP, which took the longest amount of time. To take the stock one off is a pain in the ***. As with mine the nuts were rusted and very hard to loosin with the angles you have to get at the nuts. But have someone help you out and plan on using a couple of ratchet extension's and swivels. And also if you can't get a socket or wrench on a nut be sure to move the clip out of the way that covers the top of the nut(it's like a cotter pin). Well after about two hours of screaming and cursing I had it in. I did notice about 1-1.5 psi gain in boost(1.5 on a cold nite) which would bring mine up to about 8.5-9.0 psi. Before it would only boost to 7-7.5 with cat-back and intake. No notice in sound levels just a little on the highway. But you know notice the turbo is there but I also have the Greddy PE so it sounds stock anyway. On to the MP this one took about half hour to install including puttin it on the lift etc. After I put this on I didn't notice much when I started it up just a little louder. But man when I drove it out and got on it she sounded so good. A nice deep tone not raspy at all, perfect(well for me anyways) quiet when you want it loud when you want it too. Now it will push 10 psi easy and cold nites 10.5. I'm very happy with the outcome of these mods and the power and sound is perfect. I can also swap the cat in when it comes time to with ease. If you do this use a lift especially for the DP and have buddy help too. I forgot to mention the two blue/orange flames are sweet too Sorry for the rambling I just wanted to share my experience.

I went with both the Bonez DP & MP on my 88 T2 also, its a very good value vs whats out there. The gains are very noticable! I used a lift, so I know what a pain it would have been without one!
Enjoy!

it's cool, sorry for the abbreviations

DP- downpipe(replaces pre-cat off the turbo)
MP- midpipe(replaces main-cat, very restrictive)
PE- power extreme

HKS dp and planning

Autometer Dual Pods,
Greddy 52mm Elect. Boost,
Greddy 52mm Elect. EGT,
Walbro High Flow
Racing Beat FCD
HKS Downpipe

with new plugs and wires and bacially everything 100 percent on my stock 87 t2 besides hks tt does this look like a decent plan? Would it better to just get the 3'' RB DP and get someone to make me a 3" piping to the cat?
Am I correct that the HKS bolts up, and if I change catbacks will they connect to the HKS DP? Sorry for any confusion or any mistakes I have made still learning a lot so show mercy on me

You better watch your fuel!! I just put a Bonez DP and high flow cat on my TII. I had already rewired and replaced my fuel pump with a Walbro. I'm peaking at 11 psi boost, you will probably be higher.

My Dyno with a wideband O2 had me at 12:1 under 5000 rpms without any adjustments to my S-AFC. If you are over 10 psi you might be running dangerously lean!!
You go lean, and bye bye!!

Mike

(I'll have my dyno sheet posted soon)

89Turbo, I was ready to post the same thing man. You better think about some fuel mods man. At least rewire that fuel pump. Do something for some fuel. Unless you want to learn how much cussing and blood is involved in pulling an engine.

I would say upgrade your fuel pump and rewire it. That probally would cut it. The best way to find out what you need is to run on a dyno with a wideband o2 sensor sniffing your exhaust.

I dont think they were talking to you.
In my experience, a Walbro 255lph HP alone is good enough for full exhaust.

i couldnt get at the bolts holding the downpipe onto the turbo without getting heat shield off. unfortunately for me mazda made our cars using ooompa loompas so the clearance to fit hands and tools is about the size of half my palm in most areas.

Me and my Dad installed the Bonez dp and mp in about.. mebbe 2 hours or something, on jack stands.

the biggest pain was the bolts on the back of the turbo, and that stupid effin heat shield. i hope i can still pass echeck, because i tossed my main cat and precat (they were clogged as hell, couldnt even see through the cat for like a pin hole.)
