Purchasing exhause,need help!~

alright, the time has come to yank off that oh so restrictive system thats on there and replace it with new, woohoo. so i'm pretty positive i'm going to go with the Apexi N1 single exit cat back for the TII but i'm not sure exactly on what else i'm going to need. i know i'll need a downpipe which i'll probably just go with the HKS 3" one for that and i'll need a midpipe as well right? or can that be replaced with the racing beat presilencer from the RX7store? i'm comming to find that the store doesn't have any midpipes for our gen cars so what am i to do? i'd like to get this done ASAP like order all within 24 hours and have the stuff before the weeks out. i'll need what 2 gaskets as well for this right?if anybody can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appriciated. i've got a shop in town who can get me the cat back for about $540 overnighted to me. sound good or no? if anybody can come up with anything else for a better price then let me know. i'll be checking this thread frequently throughout the rest of the night because i'm getting really impatiant at my subtle sounding rex. plus i think my pre at is clogged so that sure ain't helping. thanks ahead of time if anybody can help or give me there $.02.

This is exactly what I was whining about in another thread...
You seem stuck on the idea of getting everything off the shelf, and don’t even consider getting part or all of it custom made by an exhaust shop. Why pay outrageous HKS prices for a piece of pipe with two mandrel bends and a pair of flanges? Even worse is complaining you can’t buy a midpipe for your car, which is just a straight piece of pipe and a pair of flanges!
Talk to a shop that does performance exhausts; you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the amount of money you could save.

Buy the RB 80mm downpipe for $125, unless a shop can beat that (most can't). If you're set on an N1, just buy the can and an RB (or 3rd gen) 80mm flange, then have a shop run some 3'' pipe back to the can. That'll be cheaper than the ridiculous (!) price Apex'i asks for that catback.

well heres the thing. the shop i was hoping would basically just make me a 3" stainless straightpipe doesn't seem to want to return phone calls and i've stopped down there about times now only to find the place all closed up like they went out of business, then again i hear thats how they usually look so who knows. but besides places like minakee or monroe thats about the only exhaust place in town who would do custom stuff. i think i ordered the apexi cat back from RP but i'm not sure. i wanted to see how much the shipping would be and the next thign i know i'm getting an email confirmation confirming my order, oooops oh well. so buying parts off the shelf is about my only choice so bear with me here. i'm still a bit of a novice and when the bug bites me to do somthing i loose paitiance and just do it, hence the exhaust that may be showing up at my house via next day air. it would kinda be nice to have the rest of the exhaust to accompany it but i'm not sure of the parts i'm going to need and thats basically what the original thread was about, what do i need? the downpipe i got which goes into the midpipe or presilencer?????? how many gaskets am i going to need along with this? 2,3,80? are they going to come with it? i'm going to go prematurly gray here getting all this stuff and having it ready to go and all of a sudden i realize i didn't do some monday detail like getting the damn gaskets for the stuff. once again thanks for any help anybody can offer.

Here is a link for the 3" DP/MP combo which is $175:

http://www.thunderfabrications.com/M...components.htm

That should bolt up to the catback you have ordered. I am unsure about gaskets but that is minor stuff and once the items arrive you can see if you need to buy any gaskets but you should only need at most 4(depending how many pieces the catback is in and if its the single or dual). I was going to order the 3" DP and 3" MP from corksport but the link I posted can't be beat.

I just put a new CB on my T2. I bought mandrel bent 3" piping from Summit for 50$ shipped, and a HKS titanium muffler for 325$. I did all the cutting/designing, then paid a local drunk welder 70$ to weld it up. Came out great, and I have a titanium muffler on a 3" cat back for under 500$! You could do the same with a N1 muffler for under 400$! Maybe even the black N1!!! I love that thing!

Phantom Roadworks, the place he's been trying to get a hold of, can make a turbo back system out of complete SS for about $300.00. You can't beat that. That includes install. Less if mild steel or not installed.
Maybe they have moved to a new location or went on a vacation?

Good luck with the new exhaust.

APEX makes different colors of the N1. Blue, red, green, etc...
