pulling the motor, first time!
Hey guys, I am having some issues which is causing me to pull the motor. I have never done this. Are there any tips or advice? I have a single turbo set up which I am obviously going to yank out. It just seems like alot of work, and honestly I am worried.

man its not hard at all actually, i'd say of course try to take out as much while the motors still in the car. It just makes the actual removal much easier! Also have everything setup before you start like work area, tools, and money! are you going to rebuild it yourself also? Not sure how leniant your work is, but if possible try to take 2-3 days off work and do it all at once. or over a weekend w/ 1 day off. Nothing is more stressful then getting to a good part of the rebuild, and having to put it on hold a couple days because of work!! Also be ready for some hiccups and problems because it probably wont go perfect, especially the 1st time

Don't take too much off of the block or you'll find you have nowhere to attach the chain.
If you have AC in the car, don't bother trying to remove the pump completely. Just undo the 4 bolts connecting it to the block and zip tie it against the wheel well.
Put a 2X4 or a piece of metal under the bell housing of the tranny or it will want to fall out when the motor comes loose.

try to take picture of the engine bay, vacuum lines and what ever you think you can't remember, i wish i did that before i started taking things apart.
get a bag and label where the bolts are from, that will help alot
take off radiator and AC condenser or else you might run into it when your taking your engine out.
If your just taking the engine out, remove all tranny bolts then wiggle the engine out

If you can get your hand on a digital camera, takes lots of pics before you starts. Buy a box of the zipper top plastic bags, Try to keep the bolts from different pieces in separate bags. Label the bags with a marker. Tag any wires.
