PS failure and symptoms

Wondering if a bad or unblead powerstearing can move your steering wheel to one side or the other. My friends moves to the right every now and then after we filled it up from being almost empty. Thnx

Are you asking if the power steering can move the wheel all by itself?

And as for going off to the right...my friends car wouldn't turn on its own per se, but would wander off to the right until he got new tires (they were hashed) and an alignment. Bumps and stuff would magnify it sometimes and make it seem as if the car were trying to steer itself to the right.

Most likely it's bad bushings and/or an alignment problem.

Badly contaminated fluid may cause that if it clogs the servo, but it's very rare.

Probably..
1) Alignment out of spec
2) Tires worn out
3) Bushings worn out

Chances of it being something else are a lot slimmer than the above mentioned problems, which are fairly comman on any older used car.
