Protecting Fuel Injection Ports While Cleaning Your Engine.
I am in the process of replacing the fuel pulsation damper on my base '87 NA.
I decided that it would be a good idea to give the engine a good cleaning while all the injection stuff was removed. My fuel injectors were off being refurbished, and I couldn't come up with a good way of blocking off the injector ports to keep Gunk and water from entering the engine. After wondering around my garage for awhile, I came up with two good solutions.
The first involved using a wooden dowel along with the old grommet and an 0-ring.
The second was using one of the plastic fasteners that joins the interior door panel to the door. It goes inplace with a little push and fits nice and snugly. A pair of needle-nose pliers gets it back out.
