Proof of HP from forum members

Not to say anybody on the forum exagerates their HP numbers but it sure would be nice to see some dyno print outs on some before and after runs for N/A 2nd Gen cars. A list of mods to get you the HP/torque numbers would be nice also.

Not real interested in seat-of-the-pants feelings. G-tech info is OK too.

Ill have one soon hope fully. I plan on putting my car on a dyno sometime around Christmas when I dont have school to worry about. That also gives my time to finish up the last few mods I have left.

While I don't have a dyno for my RX-7 yet, (and I have a QJS J-SPec in the basement awaiting transplant), I just today had my 2001 Ford SuperCrew dyno'd. I'll get the graph shortly, but my comment for the moment, "there are a lot of people who think they have more power than they have". Not that a dyno run is the end all, be all, hp measurement, but for a motor that is listed as 260hp, 350lbs torque, measuring 168hp, and 228ft-lbs at the wheel is disappointing. This is with a Borla cat-back, K&N air filter, and a SuperChip installed. I'm afraid to see what it dyno's at without that stuff.....

I do also have a G-Tech-- It's tough to get a hp number, the rotary get's through the rev range so damn quickly. 0-60 though, I've done a 6.39-- some of the rags list 6.7 for this, so I have to be making more power-- My driving skills aren't that good

<-- Yes, that's my car.

First run is a totally stock '88 10th Anniversary with ~65,000 miles at 6psi. Second run was at ~6.psi and has: Straight-through exhaust (DP, MP, Apexi N1), custom K&N (by Vonsteenberg), FCD, gutted throttle body, clean injectors, Walbro pump, 8.5# flywheel. Other mods are on the site in the .sig. Lesson: note the shape of the *torque curves*. The motor is within 30ft lbs of max torque from 3000 rpm to 6,500 rpm.
Horsepower sells cars [and turbo kits], torque wins races.

I thought a stock FC turbo would get 182 and an n/a 146. Where did Mazda get these numbers or why do the cars dyno so low??

well... I don't have a "before" chart... and I don't have an "after" that is SCANNED... HOWEVER... I think you can probably still find the results on www.dfw-rx7.com showing that I won the NA competition last year at our club dyno day... but only 130 RWHP. 3" single with cat, cone filter. Box around the filter, but it doesn't matter with the hood open. 6-ports wired open. 2 other stock cars dynod at 110 or less.

because these #'s are at the wheels, not the flywheel, you lose about 20% of the power as it goes through the tranny and rear end.

qwck10th, what front end is that???!!!

I'll post a sheet after I dyno my car. I just need to wait for a dyno day because I'm not spending $225. The rear wheels broke loose today in 3rd gear at 70 mph, so I'm hoping for good results.
