problem after problem

Well, I'm not sure if anyone remembers but I posted a thread earlier regarding my oil pressure and changing the oil pellet to revive it. So this is the skinny on what happened. I changed it (finally had the time to), and I start the car oil pressure is up to norm, unlike the unsually low pressure it was before. It was idling at around 30 psi and around 60 psi at 3k rpms. Well after a min. I turn off the car real quick to check my oil, then I start the car again when I'm done. Oil pressure goes up normal then suddenly drops straight to zero. But that's only the tip of the iceberg (not sure if I spelled that right). Along with the oil pressure dropping, about 10 seconds afterwards, my whole guage cluster just dies and everything goes to zero including RPM's, funny part is that my engine is still running. People, I'm kinda stumped on everything. Haha, I think I'm just to frustrated to think and trouble shoot. Sorry just venting. =(

P.S. forgot to mentio that after I turned off the car when the guage cluster died, I started it again and everything was working again except my oil pressure guage. Stuck at zero still but everything else is working again. Thanks again - Chris

Check the wire that goes to the oil pressure sending unit. It's just one wire that clips on the top of it.. pretty easy for it to fall off. Also they are infamous for going bad, If the wire is intact, and it ohms out correctly you might need a new sending unit. I bought mine loaclly at pep boys for about $30.

Sounds to me that your oil pressure problem could very well be the front cover O-ring though ... by the sound of it when the gauge was working.

hmm I'll be sure the check the OMP ohms, but I did check if the wire fell off so I'll check it out. I really hope it's not the O-ring though. Well if anyone has any other ideas, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
