i am about to buy a 88 rx7 vert with 100k, after market exhuast, some decals , clean interior " no rips" , red dash, in dash glow gauge. the only thing wrong with it is that the vert top has a 3" rip. i was told it would be about 300 to fix it. the car has no rust. also the car is a weekend driver. the guy only drives it on the weekend with his wife. another thing be body has no problems at all and the cars paint stil looks like new.
So after telling yal all this. what do u think the car is worth and do u think 1800 is cheap?

I'm not sure what kind of response you were expecting.
The "value" of any item is determined by the seller and the buyer, not a group of bystanders with no stake in the outcome.
In other words, if you can drop the $1800 and feel happy after doing it, the price was fair.

I hate posts like this. The members of this forum aren't God damn magikal gnomes of inquiry with some obligation to answer every question posted.
90% of the people on here I wouldn't ask their advice as they are "forum rx7 experts"...there are several though that certainly know their 7's and I appreciate their advice.
That being said...why don't you go into the Gen 2 for sale section and search "verts for sale" and see what they are selling for and with what options and condition. You could supply your own answer that way.
My opinion? Nasty *** ricer stickers, glow gauges, and a red dash would be/are ugly as sin so if you purchase the car, take them off (well perhaps leave the glow gauges).

Dunno I sold my modified Vert for $1400.. aftermarket wheels exhaust, rebuilt motor, h4 conversion, straight body, newer top........ect...
But I gawve mine away... If you like it buy it.. if not don't.. $1800 sounds fair if it runs well.

I know the verts go for much more than that. If you check it out and it is mechanically sound then I say you jump on it. MAKE SURE YOU THOUROUGHLY INSPECT TO ENSURE THE MOTOR IS IN GOOD SHAPE.

Is the $300 to fix it just patching it, or replacing the top? Replacement tops go for about that much on eBay, though you'd still have to have it installed- for that much money if it is just being patched it might be worth it to just replace it.
My '88 vert was bought for $800, with some light rear end damage and a seized engine. Ignoring tools, I've probably put about another $1000 of more into fixing it up and getting it to the condition it's in now- getting a running one in good condition for about $1800 sounds like a decent deal to me- though with the top needing to be fixed I'd likely try talking him down a bit.
Though I will agree with the 'lose the decals'. :P If you're talking the stock maroon dash & interior and not a bright red riced-up dash, I can see it being a nice car. Though I kind of feel sorry for it only being driven on weekends... hopefully the guy at least took nice spirited drives with it.
What it really comes down to though is whether you're comfortable spending that much on it and not regretting it afterward- everybody has a different idea of what they consider a 'good buy'.
