If you upgrade your exhaust with no cats your boost will automatically rise, sometimes out of your own control. If you get a 3 inch exhaust you will need a FCD and at least a walbro fuel pump. You will also want to port your wg to keep boost lower and then get a boost controller.

Get an intake temperature sensor.
Install it before you upgrade and get a baseline of what your intake temps are peaking at.
When you upgrade, set your MBC at no more than 7 lbs. Monitor those intake temps and bring up the boost gradually. If your intake temps start getting to high, you'll need to upgrade your intercooler or add WI.
But def get an intake temp sensor. It's a must when upping the boost.

You also need to keep in mind that getting more in means you will be pushing more out. So you should consider swapping your exhaust for something less restrictive first. Like someone else said, even if you just remove the cat(if you can--emissions..), your exhaust will be freed up a bit. Better to have more potential from your exhaust than not enough. That way you just dian in with your boost controller without worrying about hitting a wall.
