Question Prelude v-tech vs 91 n/a

I ran into a late model v-tech prelude that was definitely modded at a stop light. I had my wife in the car and was not sure if he was going to race so I took off from the light slowly. Well he was racing and he pulled about a car length lead on me and stayed there the rest of the race. I redlined second and was pulling 80 in third when he let off and I passed him. He turned off at the next light so i didnt get to launch of the line with him this time. Are these preludes fast or did I just blow it by not lauching correctly.

I beat my friend's 98 Vtec prelude (auto) with my stock 88 GTU, you should have kept up pretty easily with your mods, by launching you could have beat him proabably depends on his mods.
