Precat or straight Pipe

I have a 88 AE that just had the engine rebuilt. IT has a VERY strong smell of exahust when driving it and I am pretty sure it is coming out of the precat. It looks like there is a slight crack in the side from rust. I want to replace the entire exhaust system back from the precat all the way to the mufflers.

I can't find anyone that sells the precat excpet for mazdatrix who wants over $458 for it. Should I just use a straight pipe instead? If I do that will I need a slicencer and will that effect the engine at all?

I have swapped out the cat and the mufflers a few times but never had to mess with the precat and I am kind of at a loss.

I am not worried about emmision inspections just because in my area they don't test emmisions since the car is so old. They just make sure all the parts are there and I am sure they wouldn't have a clue the precat was swapped with a straight pipe.

I would really like if anyone has an entire kit they know about from front to back.

Thanks for the help!

Racing beat has a full system for turbo II's, and I have heard good things about it, but I have an NA so I can't say from personal experience. You may want to check out corksport, rx7.com, and rx7store.net as well.
