Question Is It Practical to Cleanout Your O2 Sensor?

I had performed the ATF "trick" to de-flood my motor about 2 months ago. Ever since I haven't been experiencing any O2 related problems but I want to know If It Is practical to unscrew It, give It a shoot of WD-40 (or something) give It a good wipe down and re install.

It has been about 6 months since the Install of the the Racing Beat Header and a new O2 Sensor. With my emissions coming up and after "contaminating" my O2 Sensor, I want to know If It Is even worth It to clean It out so I can get even more accurate readings? Or Is even to sensitive to even do this?

There is no way to clean the O2 sensor. Anything you try will contaminate it...Really, it's not worth it since replacements are only $20.

If your worried about contamination, then change it. If the car is running the same, then its probably OK. I figure if the exhaust gases are 1300-1500 deg F, that should burn it off.

I got mine from Advance Auto Parts for $18.99--a Bosch unit.

Not sure how well youll do on the smog test with a header...

Exhaust manifold, right where the first catalytic converter bolts up.

If you have a catalytic converter after the header, there is nothing to worry about

I do have an Cat after the header. That Is a good point with the exhaust gases as being as high as 1500 degrees It Is likely to burn off all traces of the ATF.

Where are you guys getting O2Sensors for only $20? I paid $75 can at Canadian Tire.

Same thing at NAPA. It's cheap.
