Angry Power Windows.

I had a thread going about a stereo problem that had this in, but the stereo fixed itself. Basically,

Windows worked then stopped all the sudden (I was messing around with the stereo wires at the time)

I did have the dash out

Have traced it back to the black/red wire going to the switch. Ive stuck a mutli meter on the fuse and its getting 12v to it. The plug that goes to the door loom is not. I jumped the battery to the black/red wire on the back of the window switch and was able to put them up.

That wire dissapears into the main massive loom

Fuse is 100% fine.

Given that the fuse is fine, and I cannot see any melted wires this leads me to believe I have disturbed a plug somewhere, not connected it back up properly perhaps. Does anyone know of any related plugs that could be my problem, or have any other ideas?

did you physically inspect the fuse (and/or check RESISTANCE across it) or just check to see if voltage is coming into it?

Yes I have checked the fuse, that was the first thing I did. I removed it and found that it was getting voltage. So i know the problem is not before the fuse block.

When you turn the key to "on" do the turn signals and power antenna work, dash warning lights all come on and does the main relay click. If so, this suggests the front harness is connected to the interior fuse box properly. The front harness then connects to the door harness by the kick panel. Have you tried to locate the B/R wire that comes out of the fuse box and check it for voltage when the key is "on."

Yes, the car starts works, indicators work, warning lights area on. I didn't reinstall the relay for the power antenna to work so it doesn't. Not sure about the main relay click. Was unsure if it was just a black red wire coming out of the fuse box. Hadn't looked into that came to the 7club for help

The Black/Red wire coming out of the 30 amp fuse of the interior fuse box on your S5 connects to only one item, the power windows and does so through a "green" plug.

After searching on ausrotary i find it does so through the CPU, which could have some bad solder points, they look half decent to me though

The B/R wire connected to the CPU is not the same B/R wire which comes out of the 30 amp fuse of the interior fuse box. There is a connector know as X-14 which joins the front harness to the door harness which is Green in color and behind the kick panel. X-14 has the following wires:

R/W pwr window related
G/W " "
B/L " "
B/R " "
LG/R speaker related
LG/w speaker related
L/W key lock light
G/O ????????????

Find this plug and back track the B/R wire and it will lead to the fuse box!

Well I've found the problem, but it's kind of strange. Checked for continuity from the cpu to the door loom plug. Good. So I had another look at the fuse box and noticed that there is only half metal bit the fuse clips into there. So I undid the fuse box expecting to see a wire that had popped out, but there isn't one in sight. WTF is going on here.

Ok so me being stupid then I was trying to track the black red wire back that I had already checked continuity on from the door plug to the CPU. So the wire that is missing from my fuse box has to connect to the CPU and I have no idea what colour it should be, because the wiring diagrams don't show it going through the CPU

Nope. Was asking the questions on ausrotary as well, and got it confirmed by a couple of guys that it does run through your CPU and it just isn't in the diagram. Try disconnect your CPU and use your windows. Unless this is just a JSPEC thing. Anyway I have no ******* idea how. But I got the ***** and plugged everything back in and was going to leave it for another day. There is no fuse in the fusebox and my windows have started working. Similar thing happened with the CD player, lets just hope this gremlin doesn't come back.
