power issue

the engine feels like its not producing the amount of power that it should. the engine sounds normal but its lacking power.

at low rpms basically from idle to even 6k rpm it feels like it doesnt have much power. really it feels like it has no torque, you can floor it from 2k rpm and it wont move even at 4-6k rpm. it should at least feel like a 200hp car but i know i should be making more than that.im not quite sure how to explain it. also starting off from a stand still is a little wierd, i know i need to rev higher because of the flywheel but it strougles to move. i feel like my 96 jetta could outrun this car.

these are the things done to that car, also i know the car needs bigger injectors and will be getting rteck too. also the engine backfires like a ****, every gearshift or when i let of the gas it sounds like a gunshot. normal with the mods done?

Stock ECU/intercooler.
Injectors are freshly rebuilt. stock
250l/min fuel pump
BNR stage 2 turbo
RB REVII exahsute/fuel cut controller.
Turbo inlet pipe.
Deleted splitter tube, air pump, air control valve.
RB aluminum Double Sheave Main pulley
Blitz BOV
ACT 9lb flywheel, and rear weight.
ACT Clutch

oh and engine only has 215miles on it. (also if anyone remembered my other thread with the engine having no power it was a fuel pump issue like i had thought. and is all set now)

do you think that its most definitely just the injectors and a tune problem or something else. or could it be that the turbo doesn't put out any power untill the up rev range.

thanks!

Stock ECU/intercooler.
There's your problem.

I'd be VERY careful with what you do next/how you drive the car.

That setup is ASKING to blow your engine, do you have ANY fuel control?

Also, do a compression test, wouldn't hurt.

with 215 miles on the engine you shouldn't even be going over 4,000rpm, or even thinking of WOT.

Check out Atkins, Racing Beat, or FC3spro's webistes for correct break in procedures.

After you've broken it in.
Get some more fuel in your engine before you pop it.

If you "know the car needs bigger injectors" then don't race it until you have them in and tuned.

Compression test it to make sure you've not done some damage already.

yes i know the break in procedure, i just kissed 6k once the other day. just needed to know, what was going on a little higher.

so after the bigger injectors(looking @ 725cc) and the rteck it should feel great right?

will do the comp. test, asap. but still it shouldn't feel so sluggish even at this point right?

oh by the way the car does get babied when driven, it was just driven like that to see what was going on.

I don't think our cars will feel the same "up top" before breaking it in versus after.
When I rebuilt my engine it was sluggish at first, then again I ran it n/a header on the car until 1000mi break in (was also waiting for my BNR turbo)

How do you figure it is supposed to feel like a 200hp?
You should be running your car out of boost, so it is understandably sluggish, imagine a low compression n/a car with a long complex intercooler it has to breathe through.

compression could still be low enough to not build adequate low rpm boost yet either.

There is no data you can get with your setup from driving "just to see"
go buy a wideband so you know

search here, you'll find a lot of people with 1.8's with bigger turbos complain of running lean. lots of comments are made that the 1.8 is good for the stock turbo with an open exhaust/intake.

With the quick search I made, I'd suggest getting the 2.1 with 720 primaries and 850 secondaries so you can take advantage of future upgrades and adjust your timing. It seems the bnr stage 2/3 is too large for the 1.8. Just preliminary findings though.

Just remember, you've yet to put a full tank of gas through the engine (or if your mileage is terrible you're right at one) It is your car, you drive it as you wish, I'll just repeat saying you shouldn't kiss 6k, you shouldn't really even be thinking about wot, and you shouldn't get discouraged because your engine's internals aren't broken in yet.

perseverance.

just a quick question should i go with 725/850, 850/850, 850/1000 incjectors?

was looking at ID injectors here, sense they are all the same price 120 each. and i could always step the fuel down with the rtek if i needed lees fuel.
