Power Antenna replacement for 2nd gen
anybody try to replace the 2nd power antenna with a 3rd gen power antenna? I have an aftermarket radio with a + power antenna lead. The orginal antenna did not work, so I was thinking about replace it with a 3rd gen. power antenna that has the + power lead. (got one for free) any suggestion.

You just need a relay to convert the receiver's positive signal to a negative one.
See my own thread with this problem.

After finally installing the relay correctly, I can now hear the motor running and the mast is the only missing link.

The orginal power antenna is broke. Motor doesn't work and the mast is broken. Since I have a good 3rd gen. power antenna, maybe I could swap it. That way I would not have to replace the 2nd gen antenna and install the relay to convert.

I rebuilt my! the reason it breaks the white gear looking piece (built into the antenna)is because of the clutch is so hard to relieve it self when the antenna goes all the way down.I took the clutch apart ,remove the spings an look for that half circle groove in side the clutch, where the cylinder ball goes into .I took my dremal tool and smooth it out alittle so the ball slips out easier this puts less stress on the antenna so it does'nt snap. Its time cosuming but you dont have to worry of it breaking again.thats if you have all the pieces to rebuild one?
