Thats bullshit. The flapper will hit the backplate first. You want to mill THAT out first.
I did end up trimming the back of the flapper as well as cutting a recess in the plate that bolts to the turbo to allow the WG flapper to open up further. I'll be doing that again with my next car since it worked so well.
