Port Air Solenoid Valve

Port Air Solenoid Valve
Ok, I've been wrestling with the whole 5th and 6th port thing for a couple of days now. I finally got some time and pulled the front actuator which was completely frozen. I got it all moving freely and put it back on. I was ready to have back my stolen power. Well it didn't happen. They still aren't opening. So on a whim, I decided to pull the ECU, which I was planning to do because of another project. I was looking around for bad solder joints, when i came across a small section of the moboard that was fried, as well as the resitor. So i traced that section of the PCB back to the plug, and then compared that with the pinouts from the FSM. It goes to the Port Air Solenoid Valve. Now I was under the impresion that the actuators open purely as the result of backpressure. But if they are in some way controlled by the ECU then I guess I've found the problem, and need to replace the resistor. I'll post tommorow when I've had a chance to replace the damaged part. Hopefully this may shed new light on this problem for someone. Also if I can get access to a digicam, I'll post pictures. Any one else had this happen, and if so, was your problem cured by this repair?
thanks

Yeah I have seen that happen before. Ususally takes the transister with it when the resistor goes.
Double check the wiring to your PASV. Chances are the wiring is burnt.
The PASV just dumps air into the exhaust after the 20,000K mile mark, to help keep the cats burning clean.
