port activation system update

Ok....I posted my solution to the port activation dilemna a few months ago. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=748570

Anyway... I used an old plastic lawn mower gas tank to hold pressure for the port activation. Well it turns out that after 3k miles the heat in the engine bay and the pressure in the tank caused it to start leaking at the 90 degree angled parts of the tank. I JB welded it but it still leaked pressure.

I bit the bullet & went to the local FAB shop and had a tank made that would clamp around the charcoal cannister like the old tank did. They made it out of 3/16ths aluminum and welded slugs in place for intake and outlet fittings as well as tabs for the hose clamps to hold it around the charcoal cannister. It weighed a couple of pounds easily and fit exactly. I definitely won't have to worry about it failing ever!!! It set me back $150 and I tipped the guys a 12pack, but I think it was well worth it it. My system now holds 20 psi in the pressure tank with no "oil-canning" like the old plastic tank. I rarely have to run the air compressor to fill the tank. By the way - don't run more than 14 psi into a stock solenoid switch. It will stick open. I have a mini-pressure regulator set to 12 psi cold & drops to 10 psi when hot.

I figured I should update my progress & failure. The original tank worked well for a prototype, but couldn't hold up to the heat & pressure cycles. The original concept still works very well & I'm very happy with it.
