If it is raised and the factory stops are not in the correct place the hood travels back through the windsheild.
Check out one of our hoods and how it fits when closed. There is a lip on the top of the firewall, (actually just in front of the middle wiper) that will lock the extended lowered part of the hood re-enforcement, and from the whole hood from traveling backwards in the event of a front end collison.
So raising the hood up in the rear, that lip becomes useless, and will not prevent the hood from traveling through the windsheild.
And if you think those hinges are going to prevent that from happening...

I need to order that $30 peice, so i can copy it for everyone else. From what thought I've put into it, it should just be a little Z-shaped peice w/ an angle in it...
All it would take to make one is some 1/8th inch AL, a drill-press, and a vader-blade.

oK i have been noticing this hate on wings spoilers whatever you want to call them, but in reality at high speeds and hard cornering it does do something ive seen alot of test on how much they do help to control the car, in my case since i drift i dont like them no need for one, but for something like lets say a front wheel drive car such as a civic ( lol ) yeah i know, it will help control the car and help the car keep its lets call it grip. and the hood looks weird like that but it seems like it would work well, but what i dont understand is why air would be pushed into the raised hood? i dont know much , thats why i am asking?

dude what is the point in putting a spiler on a fwd car isnt that pusing the back twards the ground and raising the front so you get less traction i thought rear spoilers where a rwd thing and you would need a front spoiler to help a fwd car

well it sure seemed to work on the track testing for this civic type r in japan, all i know is was with a spoiler or wing the driver had more control, when he took off the spoiler it would lose control and spin out at the same exact speed. i dont know much about physics and all that but i know what i saw, but maybe im wrong i dont know, lol.
Ok back to the hood thing ive seen that picture of the 2nd gen aerodynamics chart or w/e, and it looked like to me that all and most of the air pressure would go to the frount bumper, so i figure it goes into the engine bay somehow and hangs out and if there was some type of pop out hood or hood cowl wouldnt that mean more cool air in the engine bay at higher speeds, please help cuz i really am considering getting a hood like that popped out one.

I voted not functional and ugly...how someone can stand to do that is beyond my thinking...air will not go out of that end of the hood, as has been stated multiple times already in this thread...there are also the safety issues which Icemark pointed out, and it looks like you broke the damn latches!!!!
oh, btw, my definition of rice is "hey, they're doing that somewhere else and we like it, quick, let's copy it!!" Therefore, most euro lights are considered rice (Don't even bring them up with most forum members...most...) and almost any body kit that is in mass production is considered to be rice by most.

I think that doing the pop up mod on the hood is cool. It ives the car a unique look and could only help the cooling of the engine compartment. Whether air goes in or out, one thing is a definite, and that is the fact that you are moving hot air out of the enine compartment. It is a look that you don't commonly see and i think it looks good on the car, especially when the sunroof is popped up cause then the angles of the hood and sunroof match. Don't quote all this bs about trying to read the aerodynamic diagrams from the net everyone has, because basically you have to admit that you are all "guessing" on how to read it. I have this mod on my turbo II and i'll take pics of it if i ever get around to it. Thats just my point of view....
