haha yea really it all depens on what your going for looks or preformance. most people consider it rice because it looks liek a usless thing just trying to draw attention but if you see my car you can see i really dont care to much for looks at least at this point But PLEASE dont let this post go to a big fight over whats rice or not i want to hear what yall think about this modification and why you think that way

...94% correct.
I'm not wanting a fight. Like I've stated, it looks bad but it's functional. If it serves a purpose why is it rice? I'm just curious as to how people justify voting that way...their opinions are theirs and theirs alone...I have no problem with what they think it looks like, I just wanna know why they hink that.

A am doing this mod this weekend. I am also relocating my stock intake Mounting the AFM on the throttle body... with the hood propped up it will act as a cowl induction. We'll see how i like it, if not i'll put it back to normal.

These kits could easly be made and as far as i have heard/seen the air goes in through the radiator(which is angled tward the hood) and up through the rear of the hood (this is how it is stock yet the hole is not as big) meaning the hot air rises to the top and is heald there longerand the rest of the air goes out from under the car and around the tranny,
Also it works like a cowl hood at higher speeds bringing cold air in through the rear of the hood also reducing under hood temps. I say the cooler the under hood temp the happyer your engine will be and the more power it can produce.

GOOD thanks for your opinion seems like your motivated for form over function. others like function over form everyone has there own views on everything

I think a perfect example of drawing a line would be in the wieght reduction catagory: tearing out your interior would reduce the wieght in your car, making it faster, but it is not worth how 'tacky' it is.

I can't afford a vented hood, and am planning a HMIC... so planning on getting my hood propped up like that. It really does help vent out some of that hot air in the engine bay. Definately functional. I don't know much about messing up the car's lines, as the change isn't drastic enough for me to notice...
Could be potentially dangerous though, in the event of a frontal collision.

yes and both those examples say you are more for form over fuction because you would rather have your car not "tacky" than have it preform better i also have done weight reduction but havent removed all the interior just because the car is also my daily driver and that keeps cold, heat, sound, exhaust out. but really when i look at that hood it is not just "out there" and i am all for free/very cheep modificatrions

No sir, I don't like it.
Remember boys and girls, rice is just an exaggeration of form (to the point of tastelessness) while pretending to be function. The pop-up hoods are as far from rice as you could possibly get! It's pure function while making the car look pretty stupid in the process. There's no shame whatsoever in wanting to make your car look good, but most of us can appreaciate the natural beauty of the car, with out silly add-ons and expensive paint jobs. All we need to make our cars look good is soap, water and a nice shiny coat of wax.
I think this arguement is akin to the single/dual exhaust debate. My car has single exhaust right now, but I'm thinking about switching to duals because they're cooler. Sure, they're not as good as a single for performance, but they look cooler.
Okay, this is not turning into a single/dual exhaust debate. I was just making a point.

Yo,
I don't think it's rice...but it sure doesn't look good IMO.
I voted #2. I bet you it flutters like a sumbitch at speed.
