Question Poor gas milage

First time owning a RX7 and I have noticed that I get horrible gas mileage. I have checked for fuel leaks and found none, my fule filter is clean. Any suggestions as to why?

if you really wanted GOOD gas mileage then the RX7 is not a contestant for the Most Economical Car ..the factory engine..N/A is around 22-25 mpg..it also depends on your driving habits too...

Define what is bad mileage...

15-17 city and 20-25 highway is pretty normal

When I bought my RX-7 the guy warned me that I'd be getting pretty shitty (compared to my hondas) gas milage. He was right :p Everything I've read about rx-7 says that that just comes with the car. I'm spending a lot on gas, but it's worth it. I drive my car pretty hard, and I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Many people complaining of horrid mileage just need a tuneup. A full 60K tuneup can greatly improve how the car drives and is the first thing to check.

Mileage is also covered in the FAQ with examples of common mileage and threads on how to get better mileage.

people say they have bad gas mileage, but this thing isnt much worse than my Storm GSi, which on a full tank will go about 220 miles, same as my 7(ofcourse i drive the ever living hell out of both)... the storm has a DOHC I4 1.6L 16valver... That thing should be getting like 3-4 Miles out of a tank... am I crazy?

Compare it to its rivals the Porsche 944 and 928S. Both (8V and turbo) require premium fuel and will get around 18-22mpg city and 23-26 on the highway. Engines put out comprable power as well. The terms "1980's", "Preformance" and "Fuel Economy" don't really mix. The only Rotary that should be hated on for its fuel economy is the RX-8, but even then, some seem to do very well.
