poor acceleration
my 1987 rx7 turbo has poor acceleration. i got it inspected and the inspector said it should accelerate a lot more faster. he said its probably the fuel injectors. another mechanic said it could be the compression, but that couldnt be possible, because the motor only has 10k miles on it. has anyone had this problem before? what should i do? if it is the fuel injectors, should i just clean them or buy new ones?

im pretty sure the turbo works correctly, because the acceleration is only a problem in lower speeds. At 3k rpms the boost gauge reads 5 and from there it slowly goes up.

I have poor acceleration as well in first gear, but mine's not a turbo and it's an automatic. However, my car is almost showroom clean, just had full maintenance at 56,000 miles changing every fluid and filter on the car, and a compression check comes back 9.2 or above on all six readings (near new factory spec!).
My car pulls normally once I can get 3-4k RPM's, but it FEELS so slow to get there on lauch. I'm thinking that my problem is just that I have an automatic, which I'm not used to having. My zero to sixty feels like 9 or 10 seconds although I never timed it. Pretty sad acceleration if this is how it ran as a new car. Except for the slow acceleration off the line, I do love this car!
Does anyone have a FAST automatic second generation RX-7? I don't want to start replacing things on mine to find out this is normal (like the suggestions for your turbo question such as clogged cat and fuel injectors).
