My best friend uses a permacool on his n/a FC. Works fine for him. I use a Spal on my TII. Works great, other than it eats alternators. Here's a pic.

I'm using fLEX- A- Lite's Black Magic #150. When It kicks In It sounds like a turbine from an air plane. Totally awesome. Man It pulls some air. Never gave me a problem.
Although, a fellow FC owner claims to have lost his 86' motor b'c this same fan didn't kick in at It's pre-set temperture.

I got a fan from an 86 grand am it works great but i think im going to get a better/bigger fan something like a v8 fan sorry man im cheap

using a fiero fan..keeps the car as cool as the stock mechanical fan did and no problems so far.

I picked up my 16" perma cool today, and made some custom mounts for my k2rd rad. I didn't like those tie ones. although they are going to hold my black magic adj thermostat to the front nicly

and this is the 16" one. the rad is big!

I have a Fluidyne rad and the electric fan from a 4 cylinder Pontiac 6000. I cut the shroud off and mounted it as a puller. A Flex-A-Lite thermostat controls the fan. This combination keeps the temps consistantly below 1/8 on the guage (too cold). I had to adjust the thermostat (on the fan) to a higher temp to keep the car at operating temperature.

Permacool 16 inch on custom brackets on a new stock radiator. Still playing with adjusting it, it comes on too soon, the car only gets to 1/8 on the temp guage on cool mornings. Got to just a little under 1/2 on the guage idling in traffic on a hot day with the air running, that's the highest temp I've seen...

If you can make it fit, no reason not to leave it. It is not nessecary, as the fan will cool fine w/o it, but it can probably make it more effecient and require less time to drop high temps back down to operating temp.

As for me, I have the 16 Perma Cool Finger Chopper and a Koyo Aluminum Radiator. Engine is still breaking in, so I can't be too sure on its effectiveness yet, but I know it moves alot of air.

Make sure you don't run TOO cool. Check the FSM for desired operating temp and try to keep the car at least that hot during idle.

The fiero fan is the best IMHO. It pulls a **** load of air (equivalent to some you would buy for 100$), plus its shrouded. That goes a long way of cooling. If the shroud covers the rad, you are pulling air across 100% of the fins. With some of the aftermarket fans it sits in the middle, no shroud. You are pulling air through 50% of the fins.

I have the finger chopper that I bought from Summit. I have never had a problem with the engine overheating. I recently did an engine swap NA to Turbo and among other things, installed a Haltech. Now, the engine warms up so much faster. I think the Haltech sensors are just that much more sensitive. I tried putting the shroud on, but the fan was hitting it which caused increased current pull and a burnt-out switch. I am now thinking of switching to the Black Magic fan. Where can I get a good deal on one?

I Have a fan out of an 86 Le Baron, it keeps the engine cool it seems to move a lot of air, and i have it on an adjustable therm. I only have the stock rad., but the shroud isn't quite as big as the radiator.

I have a huge griffin rad and I used a shrouded fan from a 91 ford escort and its the best fan I know of. I pulled it from a bone yard and painted it with black engine paint and it looks great on that polished rad. I had a 18inch auto zone fan that did nothing for cooling that giant rad so I got the escort fan and the rest is history.
30 bucks will get you the best fan out their.

When did you start going? I have been to zero events this year cause my engine was blown. It's a Marvelspeed now and I hope to have it back by the May event in Dalhart. Dalhart is probably one of the best events due to the surface of the road. It will eat up your tires though.

I hit several last year though before I blew the engine.
