please help a retarded person out (injector impedance)

Ok for some reason this always flies over my head and I don't quite grasp why my car 88TII needs resistors for my 720cc injectors?? the 88TII used high impedance injector harness and plugs thus if I where to put 720cc injectors in my it would be aready setup for the high impedance injectors correct??? Maybe I'm not getting something but to me this should be correct. ANyways whatever it is that I'm missing please let me know! THanks.

edit: by the way I have 720cc secondaries right now with no resistors and it is working fine however i've heard that my ecu will burn up through time, why???

isnt s5's 89-91? i know the s5's are high and the s4's are low, which if you have s5's i guess you would need resistors, who knows

Im not quite sure I read it in your post but what impedence are the 720s?

If the 720s are high impedence, then you do not need resistors.

If the 720s are low impedence then you do need the resistors. The ECU always wants to see a high impedence (resistence) signal. So resistors are the method of choice.

on the 88tII it was high impedance injectors and I believe 720's are high impedance because I think 550's where the last low impedance injector made (could be wrong). ANywone else with some insite?

As long as the injectors are high impedence, regardless of year, you don't need resistors.

You can measure the resistance of you injectors. If they measure 12 to 13 ohms they are high impedance and low impedance are 2 to 3 ohms.

Depends on where the 720's came from, if they're from a GSL-SE (most likely) you will need injectors, this is because in mid 87 then jumped from low (2-3 ohms) to high, and did away with the resistor packs. This is why you would then need to wire in resistors, to bring the ohms from 2-3, to 13 like the ECU expects.

Thanks guys, these injectors came from rx7.com so I'm thinking they are low impedance hence me needing the resistors. Now that we are on the subject. Does anyone know the part number to the resisters you get at radio shack??? And can I wire them into the ecu side of the car??? Thanks

10 watt 10 ohm, part number is really required for something that easy. wiring them at the ECU is the best idea, keeps them away from the engine bay heat which kills them.

Yes, one resistor per low imp injector. So if you run two of your original 550's and two 720s, you'd use only two on the secondaries.

If you're retarded, don't you need to go to special ed?
